Why Quality Leadership Focuses On PLANNING?

Don’t expect to become a quality, effective leader, unless, you are ready, willing, and able, to plan, to lead! One of the reasons, many organizations are witnessing a near – dearth of meaningful leadership, is, these groups, have not created, implemented, and emphasized, a professionally designed, well – considered, relevant, leadership PLANNING program, and system! After over four decades, of identifying, qualifying, training, developing, and consulting to thousands of actual, and potential leaders, I have come to believe, the key to success, is true planning, based on the specific needs, priorities, perceptions, and heritage/ history, of the specific organization. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means, and represents, and why it makes such an important difference.

1. Priorities; perceptions; plans:

Before planning, a real leader considers, thoroughly, the true priorities, of the specific group. He considers needs, goals, heritage, and the real, as well as perceived hopes, of his constituents. Addressing these perceptions, must become a key, to the strategic, and action plan, used.

2. Listen; learn; leading:

Rather than assuming, a great leader takes the time, and makes the effort, to effectively listen, and learn, what others perceive, and desire, so he can proceed with the utmost degree of genuine empathy! Unless this is the process, who is one leading?

3. Attitude; aptitude; attention; action plan:

Great leaders proceed with true, positive, can – do, attitudes, as well as developing a relevant, well – developed aptitude, and skill – set! The pay attention to details, etc, and create a quality, action plan, based on an overall, longer – term, strategy!

4. Needs; nuances:

You aren’t leading, unless/ until, your plans, address, in a meaningful way, the true needs of the specific group! Every organization has its own, specific heritage, etc, and, thus, a real leader, addresses these nuances!

5. Nerve:

Sometimes, a pseudo – leader fears taking necessary action, while a real leader, must proceed, with the nerve, to do, what lesser individuals, are unwilling to do!

6. Integrity:

Unless others believe in you, how will you become a leader? Therefore, you must be ready, willing, and able, to proceed, with the utmost dedication, to absolute integrity, rather than taking a path, of least resistance!

7. Navigate:

How one plans, determines whether his action plan, is the best one, to navigate the finest course, for the organization!

8. Generate goodwill; growth; good:

How will you, generate goodwill, and bring people together? Groups either, undergo, consistent growth, or fail to remain sustainable! Will you focus on what is good, for the group, rather than focusing on your personal/ political agenda, and/ or, self – interest?

Great leadership accompanies well – considered, quality, relevant PLANNING? Are you prepared to become a real leader?
